Saiga 308 23" barrel or Vepr 308 in 20" barrel?

So, question for you guys. I had a DPMS LR 308 sitting in my safe for a while but had to sell it to rebuild my car. The itch for a semi 308 has remained.

As a recent Comblock convert, I want to find an AK variant 308 and am torn between the Saiga 308 and Vepr 308. Vepr is a heavier duty rifle due to the RPK trunnion and thicker reciever and barrel. Though, its my understanding the Saiga reviever and barrel are thick too.

Mags are moot thanks to csspec. Leaves availability of accessories and furniture as the real difference. Would eventually convert either to a featureless using a monsterman grip magpul/tapco stock, upgraded fore end etc

Lastly, no more Saiga importation due to Obummer ban. Recent news from Arsenal and Molot looks like Vepr importation will resume. Might drive a larger accessory market for the Vepr style rifles.

What say you? Saiga 308 or Vepr 308?
