Freedom Munitions .357 Mag 125gr review

I recently purchased a 686 Competitor so I turned to my favorite ammo brand...I was interested in the 158gr, but they were out of stock and the only other weight they had was 125gr.

I did some reading on the differences and it seemed that 125gr used to be an issue with some older S&W revolvers (K frame I believe) with the forcing cone, but was corrected later on with the L frames, which my 686 is. Anyway, since that was all they had, I bought a box of 500. Of course, after these are spent, I'll be reloading them.

I shot 158gr S&B the first time out and my 125gr FM came yesterday, so I shot those today. There is a noticeable difference in the way the recoil feels between the two bullet weights. From what I remember, the 158gr felt more abrupt, while the 125gr felt really smooth and a whole lot louder with a bigger fireball.

I definitely enjoy the 125gr FM out of my 686. The 158gr S&B was fine too, given how heavy the 686 competitor is with all of the weights in, but man, the 125gr FM felt so nice. There was also no adjustment needed to my rear sight as they both hit the same POI (10 and 15 yards). The awesome fireball and the loudness is pretty damn fun too. I was in the first lane so my shots echoed even more.

I've bought their .45acp, 9mm, and now their .357mag (all new, haven't bought reloaded since you don't save much) and I've not been let down once.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
