Ambi magazine won't lock in mags on AR15?

I recently got a norgon mag release and it will not lock in hexmags, mft mags or troy battlemags. It only works with pmags. I tried jamming the mag into the magwell as forcefully as I can and it won't lock in. I'm not really sure what is causing the issue. Any ideas?
