Hi all. I'm mounting my first scope, Vortex Strike eagle 1-6x24. Seeing as how I have no experience with scopes, I'm a pistol and iron sights guy, I wonder if I am adjusting this thing properly. Most of the videos and pictures of mounted scopes and this model in particular look as if the scope is generally far forward in the mounting rings. When I adjust the scope so that I eliminate what I think is scope shadow I have the scope all the way backward in the rings. This is with the stock fully extended on my AR. The back of the scope (part toward the eye) just lines up with the edge of the charging handle. The mount itself is at the most forward portion of the rail on the lower receiver. Seems to me I may be misunderstanding the proper adjustment for eye relief and fov. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks in advance.
