NRA Elites need to get new way to scare money out of you

Right wing elites, both inside and outside the NRA have used the idea that Heller could be overturned with the slightest mistep to keep the base riled up, the money flowing, and the politicians scared. And perhaps rightfully so. But earlier in the week, 8 justices unanimously reaffirmed Heller with thier ruling in Caetano. I do not see how 4 of them and any new nominee could then do a 180 and reverse or gut Heller and prodiginey.

And while it should be granted that implementing the Heller Caetano victory against the states will take work and further litigation, this court has made clear that carrying a weapon for self defense outside your home is constitutional right worthy of serious protection.

So now what will be the new test, schema, or issue that they will throw in front of every judicial nominee? How will they convince you that they are all that keeps the court at bay and deserve your money and loyalty? We are no longer just a nominee away from Jack booted thugs siezing all firearms. Maybe 4 new justices, but not one.

I am not suggesting that anyone abandon the NRA, far from it. But the rhetoric must keep pace with the reality or else they become the boy who cried wolf. I am worried that the old hands are so used to spouting the same message they wont be nimble enough and will further marginalize not only the NRA itself, gun owners as a whole.

If anything, the NRA should work to speed up the confirmation process for the federal bench so that open trial and appellate judgeships become filled and the time for adjudication of the various lawsuits required to dwfemd TRTKBA will come down. Jstice delayed is justice denied. But then again if you weren't afraid, would you still donate? Maybe victory is bad for those at the top?
